Why is it so cheap? Because the cost of most things here are very low in comparison to Europe. It is becoming more common for visitors to Thailand to buy flights and make the rest up when they get here, rather than booking an expensive package. It is possible to rent acceptable accommodation, buy good food and pay local travel expenses for less than £10 per person per day. Of course, it takes a while to stop eating in the tourist-focused English speaking restaurants, and you still need a guide if you really want to know about what you see. |
